Chris Deering was founder and CEO of the London-based Sony PlayStation Division for EMEA and Australasia from 1995 through 2005, when he retired from Sony.
PlayStation Europe enjoys the highest cumulative installed based of PlayStation consoles in the world, and created the renowned "EyeToy" and "SingStar" global game franchises. During 2004 and 2005, he was also president of Sony Europe Electronics Division, which markets Vaio Computers, Memory Stick, Cybershot Digital Cameras, HD Camcorders, Sony Semiconductors and Digital Cinema; and on the Advisory Board of Sony Ericsson mobiles. Most notable in 2005 was his launch of the Bravia LCD TV line, featuring the globally award winning "bouncy colored balls" TV commercial.
A Harvard MBA graduate, Chris has also served at McKinsey & Co, and in product marketing at Gillette Corp for 10 years, including 4 years as Head of European Marketing. Chris then spent 2 years as VP International Marketing at Atari, and 10 years as Senior VP at Columbia Pictures (Sony Pictures) where he was COO of International Video from 1991-1995.
Chris has won many awards during his career including the Computer Games Industry Achievement Award from BAFTA, and the 'Hall of Fame' from the European Leisure Software Publisher's Association. He is now on the board of several high tech firms as well as serving as Chairman of the Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival.
